Cockatoo secures rail contract for Bowen Basin pCi coal

Melbourne — Australia’s Cockatoo Coal has secured a long- term contract with rail company QR National to haul an addi- tional 3 million mt/year following the expansion of its Baralaba complex in the Bowen Basin, the company said Tuesday. The Baralaba mine is located in the southeastern part of the Bowen Basin and is expected to produce 750,000 mt of predominantly PCI coal in the next 12-15 months and increase to 3.5 million mt/year from 2014-15.
