Ukraine's January coal extraction up 6.3% year-on-year

Ukraine's coal extraction rose 6.3% year-on-year to 6.97 million mt in January from 6.56 million mt in January 2011, the energy and coal industry ministry reported Thursday. At the same time, coal output in January fell 3.9% from 7.25 million mt in December. In 2011, Ukraine's coal output rose 9% year-on-year or 6.76 million mt to 81.99 million mt from 75.23 million mt in 2010, according to the ministry.
