Singapore - Spot metallurgical coal prices in Asia were still showing signs of strength Thursday, on the back of import appetite in China. The domestic Chinese market remained tight after a large number of mines closed ahead of this week's National Congress, sources said. Platts Thursday assessed premium low-vol HCC 50 cents higher at $160/mt FOB Australia, while second-tier coal was seen unmoved at $137.50/mt.
