Inner Mongolia retained its role as the largest coal mining region in China in 2010 with an annual coal output of 782 million mt, up 16.3% from 637 million mt in 2009, according to figures released by respective coal industry bureaus. Shanxi Province was the second largest coal mining province in 2010 with 741 million mt, up 20.5% from 615 million mt in 2009. Shaanxi Province also retained its role as the third largest coal mining province with 355 million mt, up 25.4% from 283 million mt in 2009.
