Polypropylene import pricing in South America was stable to lower to start the year amid persistently soft demand. Import pricing on a CFR Peru basis fell $15/mt since December 16, 2015, assessed Wednesday at $1,005-$1,015/mt for homopolymer grade and $1,045-$1,055/mt for co-polymer grades -both fresh record lows -amid talk of competitively priced material from Asia and the Middle East, sources said. In Brazil, assessments held steady for the period amid weak buying interest at $1,025-$1,035/mt CFR basis for homopolymer and $1,065-$1,075/mt CFR basis for co-polymer. Platts suspended weekly Americas assessments ffor the final two weeks of 2015 in observance of end-ofyear holidays. In Peru, talk of sub-$1,000/mt pricing was dismissed by market players, at least from the time being.
