US linear-low density polyethylene export prices were assessed Wednesday at $1,356-$1,378/mt (61.5-62.5 cents/lb) FAS Houston, down $11/mt. Availability from producers remained limited, though some sellers were heard offering resin at slightly lower levels than those heard a week ago, sources said. Both US-based traders and Latin American buyers noted that there were fewer offers from US producers this week, even after preliminary data released last week by the American Chemistry Council showed a build in inventories. US prices were under pressure from lower Asian and Middle East price levels — and even from some Latin American sellers — which were causing buyers to seek cheaper resin from the US.
