The US acrylonitrile export assessment declined $30/mt week on week to $1,200/mt FOB USG on slow demand and with supply becoming longer, sources said. The assessment marks its lowest level since being assessed at $1,200/mt FOB USG on August 11, 2009, according to Platts data. Even with arbitrage opportunities open to Europe and Asia, demand remained quiet, sources said, with Europe providing the best destination to export, sources said. Supply was heard lengthening because of weak demand even as most US producers were heard running at reduced rates, sources said. Global ACN prices were flat to lower again this week, with European prices down $60 at $1,300/ mt CIF Med Tuesday, while Asian ACN spot prices were unchanged week on week, assessed at $1,370/mt CFR Far East Asia and $1,330/mt CFR South Asia Tuesday.
