US high density polyethylene export availability was improving, multiple market sources said Wednesday, and there were growing expectations that more exportdesignated resin could hit the market in the coming week. Export prices were assessed $22/mt lower on the week as US sellers attempted to keep pace with lower prices in Asia and the Middle East. HDPE blowmolding was assessed at $1,345-$1,367/mt (61-62 cents/lb) FAS Houston, down $22 week on week. HDPE injection was assessed at $1,356-$1,378/mt (61.5-62.5 cents/lb) FAS Houston, down $22/ mt week on the week. HDPE HMW film was also assessed $22/mt lower at $1,389-$1,411/mt (63-64 cents/lb) FAS Houston. After being limited primarily to standard allocations to open June, trader sources said they were seeing additional rail car availability, and hearing talk from some producers that more product could hit the spot market.
