Asian paraxylene rose $9.50/mt week on week to be assessed at $894/mt FOB Korea and $915/mt CFR Taiwan/China Friday, despite weakening towards the end of the week on sliding crude oil prices after a sharp jump early in the week. Day on day PX prices fell $10/mt. July ICE Brent crude oil futures fell $1.03/barrel week on week to $61.665/b at 0830 GMT in Asian trade Friday, and were down $1.63/b day on day. Also upstream, isomer-grade mixed xylene slumped $13/mt week on week to $770/mt FOB Korea and by $17/ mt to $790/mt CFR Taiwan, narrowing the PX-MX spread $22.50/mt over the same period to $124/mt. India’s ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals late Thursday issued a tender to sell 150,000 mt of PX over July-September, 50,000 mt/ month, loading in New Mangalore, west coast of India that closes June 12.
