Northwest European butadiene prices were assessed at $734/mt FOB ARA Friday, down $5 on the day. On a weekon-week basis, the product firmed a marginal $3/mt. In the European domestic markets, the product was unchanged both on the week and from Thursday to be assessed at Eur651/mt ($744/mt) FD NWE. Bids in Europe were heard at $600-650/mt FOB ARA. While traders complained of a lack of offers they claimed producers were willing to enter negotiations if an arbitrage opens to the US. In the US, were supply was seen tight, the product was last assessed at 39 cents/lb (860/mt) CIF USG but prices were seen firming Friday afternoon.
