Saudi domestic naphtha consumption set to rise as Sadara complex starts up

Dubai - Saudi Arabia’s domestic consumption of refined petroleum products is set to rise next year as the Sadara Chemical complex is brought into production using naphtha as the bulk of its feedstock. Saudi Aramco said Wednesday the $20 billion project, a joint venture with Dow Chemicals, was on track for start-up by the end of 2015. Sadara, located at Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia, would be the first chemical complex in the Gulf Cooperation Council region to use naphtha as part of its feedstock, Aramco said.
