The Asian bottle-grade polyethylene terephthalate market was assessed flat to $10/mt lower from the previous week, dragged down by bearish feedstock markets — monoethylene glycol and purified terephthalic acid. Buyers continued to wait for prices to come down further this week amid lower feedstock prices — though it is the peak demand season for PET with the summer months here. Feedstock Asian MEG and PTA markets also fell week on week. On Wednesday, the CFR China MEG price benchmark fell $53/mt week on week to be assessed at $930/mt, while the CFR China PTA price dropped $25/mt from the previous week to be assessed at $735/mt.
