US West Coast polyethylene terephthalate declined $22/ mt on the week, assessed Wednesday at $1,290-1,312/mt (58.50-59.50 cents/lb) DDP US West Coast lagging earlier decreases in Asia. A buyer said Asian PET offers to the US have been softer in recent weeks, and a trader said Chinese prices have fluctuated in recent weeks. Spot PET in Asia rebounded $10-$20/mt on the week, assessed on an FOB Northeast Asia basis at $1,070/mt and on a Southeast Asia basis at $1,080/mt on tighter supply. Those increases came after Asian prices declined in recent weeks, dropping $20-$30/mt last week. Due to ongoing antidumping investigations, sources have said the market has been tough to gauge in recent weeks and will be moving forward. Brazilian PET has increasingly been seen imported on the US East Coast and more imports on the US West Coast have been coming through Taiwan, sources have said.
