CFR China propylene was assessed at $615/mt on Friday, down $5/mt on week and $5/mt compared to Thursday’s assessment, with some market participants away at a conference in China mid-week. A source based in China noted that the weaker downstream polypropylene market, and strong propylene supply in China, saw CFR China buying indications trend lower. Supply from South Korea was heard to be tight, however, and as such, the CFR China sell ideas were significantly above the buy levels.
