The Asian ethylene market rose $30-40/mt day on day to be assessed at $940/mt CFR Northeast Asia and $930/mt CFR Southeast Asia Friday. Spot demand in NEA returned later this week as some buyers in China stepped into the market, seeking spot cargoes prior to the Lunar New Year holidays next week. Spot demand was also prompted by firmer downstream markets, such as styrene monomer or monoethylene glycol.
