Turkish polystyrene prices rise as converters turn to Asian imports

London — The ongoing antidumping investigation in Turkey has cooled local converters’ interest in Egyptian polystyrene and sent spot prices higher as consumers turn increasingly more toward Asian and European imports to refill their stocks, sources said Wednesday. The offers of polystyrene from the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia were now setting the floor at around $1,200-$1,240/ mt CFR Turkey, including the duty, according to traders. European spot polystyrene prices are hovering around Eur1,125/mt (around $1,280/mt) FD NWE.
