Acrylonitrile spot prices have remained flat, sources said this week, assessed at $1,385/mt CIF MED, Tuesday. “I see no change in price [this week so far], no one has paid above $1,400/mt at the moment,” one trade source said. Demand from consumers had also been heard unchanged on the week, sources said. “The market is quiet, demand is okay,” one trade source said. On balanced fundamentals producers are finding difficulty in passing through a Eur90/mt [$100/ mt] increase in the feedstock propylene contract price in May. The Propylene contract price settling at Eur990/mt [$1,103/mt] FD NWE for this month. Sources said efforts to increase spot prices had been heard thwarted by competitive US imports, which had been heard placing a ceiling on European prices.
