Colombia’s polypropylene producer Esenttia received a delivery of an estimated 10,000-mt cargo of monomer aboard the JBU Forth from the US Gulf Coast on Sunday, according to Platts cFlow ship-tracking software. A source with knowledge of company operations confirmed the purchase but did not disclose pricing terms. A US-based olefins trader hinted that the trade might be part of a long-term contract to supply propylene to Colombia. Future imports from the US were not ruled out as the US export market was considered competitive, the company source said. Esenttia has been steadily importing feedstock for its downstream polypropylene production as it attempts to keep up with growing regional demand, market sources said. In exports, the Bow Guardian arrived in Brazil to pick up an unknown volume of propylene, according to Platts cFlow.
