European high density polyethylene prices fell this week on easing supply, sources said this week. Prices closed Wednesday at Eur1,600/mt for film, down Eur45. Injection was assessed at Eur1,575/mt, down Eur35. Blowmolding was assessed at Eur1,585/mt, down Eur60. In the contract market, prices were assessed unchanged at Eur1,600/mt FD NWE for all grades. One converter said that material still remained tight although they had heard of imports from Egypt, and South America. In production news, Total’s 210,000 mt/year high density polyethylene plant in Gonfreville, France has restarted production following an outage in April, the company said in a letter dated last week and seen by Platts.
