Asian styrene monomer prices extended a recent uptrend to climb $20/mt day on day to be assessed at $1,478.50/ mt CFR China and $1,454.50/mt FOB Korea Friday on tight supply. Plant issues at the Chevron Phillips 777,000 mt/year SM plant at Al Jubail continued to dominate market sentiment, with traders and end-users heard actively seeking additional June cargoes. Bids for H1 June loading cargoes rose from $1,468/mt in the early afternoon to $1,485/mt CFR China during the Platts Market on Close assessment process against offers that increased from $1,480/mt to $1,500/mt CFR China. Active trading in the Chinese domestic market saw prices rise Yuan 50/mt day on day to Yuan 11,100/mt.
