The low density polyethylene markets in Latin America remained flat week on week, as market participants were in a wait-and-see mode. Many market participants expected that prices would move down. Multiple offers were heard in the market, but buyers were resisting buying large volumes. “[We’re buying] just enough to keep the inventories balanced,” a Peruvian distributor said. In Peru, the LDPE assessment was at $1,680-$1,690/mt CFR Peru. An offer from Thailand was heard at $1,675/mt CFR Peru, for a minimum volume of 100mt for delivery in 60 days, which does not meet Platts delivery terms, so the offer was not used in the assessment.
