US spot refinery-grade propylene rose 0.25 cents/lb week on week to a Friday assessment of 28-28.5 cents/lb delivered in a market described by sources as devoid of activity. Polymer-grade and chemical-grade propylene assessments fell 1.5 cents for the period to 36.75-37.25 cents/lb delivered and 33.75-34.25 cents/lb delivered, respectively. The PGP assessment slipped back to near sixyear low levels, following a June bid-offer range of 36-38 cents/lb MtB-pipe and one June deal at 37 cents/lb MtBpipe. July bid-offer ranges were at 35-37.5 cents/lb MtBpipe, which, according to some participants, could signal weak propylene markets for the next two months. In contracts, Initial nominations for US polymer-grade and chemical-grade June propylene contract prices are calling for a rollover at 42 cents/lb and 40.5 cents/lb, respectively, multiple sources said Monday.
