London — Austrian polystyrene producer Sunpor Gesellschaft will continue to operate its two expandable polystyrene plants at 15-20% of capacity in September, a company source said Wednesday, as a summer lull in construction-led European EPS demand lingers. “We decided to take some capacity down early August by about 15-20%,” said the source, adding that these rates will continue into September on the back of a weak European construction sector. “I don’t think EPS is price related, it’s demand. Fewer building projects are being started.” Sunpor Gesellschaft’s August reduction followed notifications in July that the company would trim rates by around 6-7% on lackluster demand.
