US linear-low density polyethylene export prices slid $11/ mt as market sources said softer demand in China was putting pressure on exporters. US LLDPE was assessed at $1,367-$1,389/mt (62-63 cents/lb) FAS Houston. Trader sources said resin availability from US producers seemed to be improving as there was talk some spot rail cars could be hitting the market. Preliminary data released Wednesday by the American Chemistry Council showed US LLDPE inventories rose by more than 70.4 million lb in May. With domestic producers seeking an increase in July, sources said there could be pressure to push inventories lower in June, and the export market could be a likely destination for any additional product since domestic lower domestic spot prices could hurt any hopes of an increase, sources said. Most traders were only seeing standard export allocations early in the month, producers and trader sources said.
