US low density polyethylene prices were assessed Wednesday at $1,609-$1,631/mt FAS Houston, stable week on week, with market sources noting that limited product availability and high prices continued to make exports a challenge. Multiple market sources said they were looking to Asia and the Middle East for product to move into Latin America, as the prices in those regions were more competitive in the region. Spot domestic railcars have been heard offered throughout March at 72 cents/lb for bulk cargoes and 74 cents/lb for bagged LDPE, with buyers saying prices would probably need to drop by 4-5 cents/ lb for exports to be possible.
