EDC: Asian ethylene dichloride dropped $9/mt on the week to be assessed at $430/mt CFR Far East Asia, $430/ mt CFR Southeast Asia Thursday. Deep-sea cargoes were heard offered at below $450/mt to Far East Asia this week, against counter-bids at $400/mt and below. End-users were not seeking spot cargoes this week on high inventory, while some were heard delaying taking delivery of term cargoes because of weak downstream production, noted a market source. With the pressure of year-end inventory tax in the US, a buyer expected an influx of US origin EDC into Far East Asia, further pressuring down prices. But given persistently high feedstock ethylene prices, sellers saw little room for prices to fall. In Southeast Asia, weak spot demand continued to keep regional producers from offering into the market this week, no trades heard.
