US polyethylene terephthalate contracts were set to fall by 2 cents/lb, according to market sources, with lower feedstock pricing serving as the primary factor in the decrease. February contracts were assessed at 81.75-82.75 cents/lb ($1,802-1,824/mt) US railcar. The formula-derived February US purified terephthalic acid price was set at 57.05 cents/lb ($1,258/mt), down 2.85 cents/lb from January, following the settlement of the US paraxylene contract, industry sources said this week.
