Import PVC assessments in South America continued to fall amid little buyer appetite in key markets and weaker prices in key exporting regions, including the US and Asia. The import assessment for the Peruvian market fell another $5/mt to $1,060-$1,070/mt CFR basis, with trader offers heard at levels of $1,070-$1,090/mt CFR basis, including for US-origin material. “It’s no longer a matter of pricing; it’s that there’s no demand,” a source with a US-based trader said. Offer levels appeared unchanged from the previous week, based on sources’ feedback. CFR Peru prices have shed $35/mt since February 12.
