Import assessments in South America continued to move lower, pressured by persistently sluggish regional demand and falling offers in both the US and Asia, market sources said Wednesday. The CFR Peru assessment fell $10/mt to $1,035-1,045/mt, with market sources in Peru seeing offers at $1,060-1,070/mt CFR basis, while at least two US-based traders pegged selling ideas at $950/mt FAS Houston for April shipment, admitting that product might be hard to move at such levels.
