The Northwest Europe paraxylene (PX) spot price was assessed at $1,180/mt FOB ARA Friday, down $15/mt from Thursday and $25/mt week on week, in the wake of a sharp fall in Asian prices and amid poor domestic demand, sources said. However, trading was thin this week and there were no new bids, offers or trades seen Friday, according to sources. “I would bid at $1,155/mt and place notional value at $1,165/mt FOB ARA,” one trade source said.
