US spot styrene rose 0.45 cent on the week to a Friday assessment at 75.40 cents/lb FOB USG on higher feedstock benzene. No firm bids, offers or deals were heard on the week as the market continued to be heard quiet. A source with a producer said midweek that the market was at minimum 75 cents/lb FOB USG as benzene remained over $5/gal FOB USG. Buying interest in the US was heard around 72 cents/lb FOB USG, which was below variable costs, according to Platts data.
