The Latin American PVC assessment on a CFR Brazil basis rose $20/mt over the week Wednesday to $1,270/ mt on firm demand; however, the CFR Peru assessment resisted change for a second consecutive week at $1,145/ mt as the market awaited April offers. Last heard offers to Brazil include one at $1,300/mt CFR Brazil from Colombia and a second at $1,050 FOB Taiwan, though no firm bids were heard. Freight from Asia was estimated at $80-90/ mt, according to market sources. No spot deals were heard to Brazil over the week, although a small parcel was heard sold for April-delivery at $1,120 CFR, destined for the South American West Coast. In the Peruvian market, buyers were heard reluctant to purchase material at current prices for March on expectations that pricing could lower for April.
