US low density polyethylene contracts were heard settling flat for July, according to market sources. Domestic LDPE contracts for July were assessed by Platts at 83-84 cents/lb ($1,830-1,852/mt), unchanged since April, as producers were again able to implement a 4 cents/lb increase after adding 9 cents/lb to contracts over the first quarter of 2013. Sources said buyers entered the month seeking a decrease in LDPE contracts, pointing to the lower threemonth settlement for feedstock ethylene, spot ethylene prices that were trending lower, decreased demand and rising inventories. With LDPE supplies heard tighter in the US, and other regions, during the month, buyer sources were heard focusing on a rollover during the second half of the month.
