A combination of a bull run in feedstock benzene and an improved outlook for downstream demand in the coming weeks pushed styrene prices higher this week, sources said. Spot styrene barges were assessed at $1,640.50/mt FOB ARA, up $57/mt week on week, which outstripped the $38/mt increase in benzene. Benzene spot prices rallied at the end of the week on the back of an open arbitrage to the US and late short-covering.
