US spot paraxylene climbed $5/mt Friday to be assessed at $1,410/mt FOB USG, a decline of $10/mt week on week, following Asian spot prices lower. Asian PX prices were assessed Friday at $1,448/mt FOB Korea and $1,472/mt CFR Taiwan/China -- both assessments were $15.50/mt lower from last week. Demand in the US remained weak as no firm bids, offers or trades heard during the week. The US is an exporter of product into Asia. Price movement in the Asian market typically drives US pricing.
