Asian paraxylene fell $9/mt day on day and plunged $58/mt or 3.6% week on week to be assessed at $1,528/ mt FOB Korea and $1,553/mt CFR Taiwan/China Friday amid persisting bearish sentiment. The market was hit by active selling this week amid lower operating rates at downstream purified terephthalic acid plants in China. On Monday, the CFR Taiwan/China PX price sank to a five-month low of $1,532/mt. The Asian PX market rebounded towards the end of the week but persisting selling pressure continued to cap the upside.
