Market players were awaiting word of a US paraxylene contract settlement for May, which was needed to set purified terephthalic acid prices and give clarity to how downstream polyethylene terephthalate could settle for the month, according to sources. The US PTA contract was set at 61.57 cents/lb ($1,357/mt) in April.
