European polyethylene terephthalate prices continued their downward spiral as cheap imports offered stiff competition and buyer appetite was limited. Spot prices were assessed at Eur1,170-1,175/mt FD NWE and GBP995-1,000/mt FD UK, down Eur5/mt and GBP5/mt, respectively, week on week. Some buyers saw UK prices as stronger than on continental Europe, but offers were heard as low as GBP995/mt. “The pressure from imports with the euro/dollar exchange rate gets tougher every day for European producers.
