Asian high density polyethylene prices were stable to weaker this week amid a lack of pressure on buyers and sellers to take positions. HDPE-film was assessed at $1,410/mt CFR Far East Asia Wednesday, down $10/mt week on week, at $1,450/mt CFR Southeast Asia, unchanged from last week, and at $1,460/mt CFR South Asia, down $10/mt. A Taiwanese producer was heard offering material at $1,450/mt FOB Taiwan, but met with a poor response in the major import market, China. “There are few inquiries for film grade, but the response for yarn grade is overwhelming in China due to several turnarounds,” the Taiwanese producer said.
