The Asian polyethylene terephthalate market fell $30/mt week on week to be assessed at $1,490/mt FOB Northeast Asia and $1,480/mt FOB Southeast Asia Wednesday. PET producers continued to reduce their offers this week amid high inventories and bearish feedstock markets. The CFR China purified terephthalic acid price fell $27/mt week on week to be assessed at $1,103/mt Wednesday, while CFR China monoethylene glycol weakened $14/mt to $1,036/ mt over the same period. PET offer levels on an FOB Korea basis were heard at $1,500/mt, lower than $1,530-1,550/ mt in the previous week. Offer levels from China were reported to be $10-20/mt lower than South Korean-origin offers amid high inventories there.
