EDC: The US ethylene dichloride assessment was down $5/mt week on week Thursday at $290-300/mt FOB USG following quite markets with little reported buying interest. EDC offers were reported in the range of $310-320 FOB USG, against no bids or offers. “We are seeing decline in the Asian PVC market which leads us to believe that VCM and EDC demand will weaken, as so are US EDC exports,” a trader source said. Upstream, ethylene was assessed Thursday at 63 cents/ lb FD USG, up 0.75 cents week on week, as Flint Hills Resources reported a process upset at its Port Arthur, Texas, chemical plant, according to company filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
