The March US terephthalic acid contract remained unsettled Friday as negotiations were still ongoing for the March paraxylene contract at time of publication. The formuladriven February US PTA contract price was 69.23 cents/lb ($1,526.24/mt), and sources indicated that the price could drop on a lower March PX contract settlement. Spot PX prices continued to fall this week to a Friday assessment of $1,525/mt, down $20/mt week on week and at the lowest level in two months. No US PTA production issues were heard and supply has been described as ample given current PET demand and lower run rates.
