The assessment for the Peruvian low-density polyethylene import market rose $20 week on week to a Wednesday assessment of $1,680-1,690/mt CFR, pulled higher due to higher offers for US-origin material. An US-origin offer was heard at $1,710 CFR Peru. “We are expecting for the prices to decrease. It is not a good time to buy higher volumes,” a Peruvian buyer said. However, this scenario may change in the following weeks, considering the current situation of supply and demand in China as Chinese producer’s inventory remained high and buyers were in no rush to import products, sources said.
