US spot styrene rose 0.35 cent week on week to a Friday assessment at 76.75 cents/lb FOB USG on tight supply. A September deal was done Monday at $1,700/mt (77.11 cents/lb) FOB USG for 2,000 mt. No other deals were heard on the week, with sources saying the market had turned its attention to August and September as there was little to no prompt July product available. August and September were heard pegged around the 77 cents/lb FOB USG level for most of the week, with notional bid-offer ranges for both months heard at 76-77 cents/lb FOB USG Friday. Arbitrage windows to both Europe and Asia were open, but Asia was the region getting more interest to export to because of the steep backwardation in Europe.
