Brazilian chemical producer Braskem this week announced plans to partner with Germany-based Styrolution to build a 100,000 mt/year acrylonitrile butadiene styrene plant at Braskem’s Camacari complex in Bahia state. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this month. The project, which would result in a joint venture between the companies -- with Styrolution accounting for 70% of the partnership -- still requires final approval. Viability studies should be concluded by mid-year 2014.
