The Asian polyethylene terephthalate market fell $5/mt week on week to be assessed at $1,350/mt FOB Northeast Asia and $1,370/mt FOB Southeast Asia Wednesday, remaining under pressure from bearish feedstock markets and weak demand. Purified terephthalic acid fell $20/mt week on week to be assessed at $1,002/mt CFR China, while fellow PET feedstock monoethylene glycol fell a sharper $59/mt over the same period to $1,033/mt CFR China. Despite this, PET offers remained flat from last week, with the FOB China offer heard at $1,360/mt and the FOB Korea offer at $1,380/mt. Bids were heard around $1,350-1,360/ mt FOB Korea, while negotiation levels on an FOB China basis were heard at $1,350/mt.
