Butadiene prices continued to sink this week on the back of weak demand. Prices on a CFR China basis fell $130/mt week on week to close Friday at $1,745/mt, and on an FOB Korea basis fell $140/mt to $1,725/mt. A trader in China said neither buyers nor sellers nobody were “brave” enough to conclude a deal at a fixed price right now. A South Korean end-user noted there were only floating discussions, with many participants anticipating the market had further to fall. There was talk of a deal Friday at $1,700/mt CFR China but sellers did not confirm offers close to that level for cargoes to be delivered in April.
