The Asian PVC market swung between gains and losses this week amid differing fundamentals in regional markets. PVC on a CFR India basis rebounded $10/mt week on week to $1,030/mt amid bullish market sentiment. A deal was heard for an April PVC cargo at $1,020-1,030/mt CFR India, and an offer heard at $1,040/mt CFR India inclusive of antidumping duties Wednesday. Chinese origin PVC was offered at $1,027/ mt CFR India. Typically, Chinese origin PVC is about $20/ mt cheaper than other origin cargoes, according to market sources. “The PVC India market bottomed out this week on stronger demand with the summer peak season approaching and short-covering demand, as quite a few buyers did not buy enough March-delivery cargoes due to sluggish demand and ample supply from China earlier,” an Indian trader said.
