The spot price for US paraxylene was $15/mt lower over the week, assessed Friday at $1,425/mt FOB USG following Asian PX prices and a decline in feedstock MX. The market has been very quiet and was likely to remain that way throughout the rest of the year, a source said. The assessment Friday was stable after Asian prices were unchanged. The Asian market was quiet this week ahead of the Asian CP settlement despite stronger demand from downstream PTA.
