The FD Northwest Europe polystyrene benchmark sank a hefty Eur30/mt in the first week of April, hauled lower primarily by a steep decline in raw material costs. On Tuesday, the Northwest European styrene monomer contract price for April was fully settled at Eur1,411/mt FOB ARA, down Eur64/ mt from March, negotiating contract parties confirmed Tuesday. The sharp decline was primarily attributed to falling feedstock costs. The NWE benzene April CP was concluded at Eur992/mt, or $1,267/mt CIF ARA, a reduction of Eur62/ mt from March, while the ethylene April CP was fully settled at Eur1,265/mt FD NWE, down Eur60/mt from March.
